Sometimes we need to make your phone camera as a laptop/computer webcam. Maybe because the webcam is broken, or maybe because you want a webcam that is more flexible in placement.
To do this in Manjaro, you can use Droidcam. Unfortunately, even though it's available in appcenter, we can't install it normally like other software. But we need small trick as described here :
git clone https://aur.archlinux.org/droidcam
Go to droidcam folder (usually located at /home/yourusername/droidcam )
cat PKGBUILD
mhwd-kernel -li
EXAMPLE :
Currently running: 5.7.4-1-MANJARO (linux57)
The following kernels are installed in your system:
* linux56
* linux57
Then you must install your kernel header :
sudo pacman -Syu linux56-headers linux57-headers
cat droidcam.conf
sudo modprobe videodev v4l2loopback-dc
After installed, restart your laptop/computer.
Then turn on your mobile hotspot and connect it to your laptop's wifi so they are in 1 network. Then, open droidcam on your phone.
Open droidcam on your laptop. then fill in the IP and port fields as listed on your phone's Droidcam.
Click Connect. And your phone camera is active as your laptop's webcam. To test it you can open the webcam software that you have such as Kamoso or others. if you haven't installed it, you can test it with the QT V4L2 video capture utility (search for it from the start menu > Multimedia).
You can do camera settings (front or back) used in your phone's droidcam settings.
