As we know, some good apps are only available in appimage format, and not available in Manjaro appcenter. And sometimes, we might choose to download the appimage version instead of installing it will save internet quota, because it can be saved and used again if we reinstall the OS. Or maybe we want to choose a certain version of the application that is not available in the appcenter.

Appimage is like portable software if on Windows. Actually there is no problem using appimage for our work. But one thing that is quite inconvenient is that we can't directly open the file supported by the appimage with a double click or even open with. While that's the easiest and fastest way. Then we need a little trick to do it.

First, we need to download appimagelauncher from appcenter.

Once installed, open the application. You will see the directory where the appimage can be placed. You can customize this directory to your liking.

For example, if the directory to /home/x/Apps. Then we put the appimage files into that folder.

Wait for a moment. Then automatically appimage can be accessed in the program menu like installed software. And you can add shortcuts in the panel or desktop. You can also access it from right click > openwith, and make it the default application to open related file formats.

After that, every time you open (double click) a file with the same format, the system will automatically open it with the appimage you selected.
